Volunteer of the Year
Brandt Holmes
Brandt
was born January 28, 1988 to Dywane and Leann Holmes, in Vernal UT.
He has two brothers, Andy & Bart and one Sister Mindy. He graduated
from Uintah High School and now works for EOG Company as a pumper.
He has many accomplishments for which he is very proud
of. Some of them being, welding competitions. Brandt took 2nd place
at the Utah State Welding competition while representing the Uintah
Basin Applied Technology School and Uintah High School. He has competed
at the State and National level for YHEC, Youth Hunter Education Charge?
in animal identification, safety trail, orientation, archery, 22, muzzleloader,
shotgun and written exam. He has placed in many areas through the years
and is now helping with the organization when he can. The State shoot
was held here, in April of this year, and you could find Brandt front
and center competing or helping out.
Among other things, he loves to hunt and play baseball. Brandt is very
active in the City league where he started young and is still active
today. He shot his first Elk with his bow September 9, 2006. He packed
into the book Cliffs with his dad and brothers and had such a great
time he is ready for a second time. Brandt loves to be outdoors and
hunting is one of his first choices. He enjoys being around his friends
and family and whenever there is a chance to go hunting, well he is
on his way. Good thing rodeo doesn’t interfere with that.
Brandt Holmes is a one of kind. There is something special about a
teenager who show’s up every year and wants to spend his time
hanging around the rodeo grounds to WORK! Brandt came to help with
the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo about the time he was 16. A young eager
teenager that just wanted to do what ever he could to help.
He started out by doing set up of autograph booth, hanging lights,
setting tables and chairs and soon graduated to filling coolers behind
the chutes, helping Eric Miller set up sound and scoreboard and help
with grand entry. He is always willing to help and is only a holler
away when you need him. The amazing thing is he has been showing up
for the past 7 years, without pay. That’s unheard of for a young
man these days!!!
Brandt we hope you’ll be around for even more years to come!
Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and commitment to the
Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo.
